Sacramento Farm-to-Fork Fest
The apartments for rent in Sacramento are embracing the farm-to-fork movement, and for good reason. The farm-to-fork concept (also known as farm-to-table), takes the middle-man out of food distribution, bringing locally-grown food to establishments to better serve the environment and food safety. Knowing where your food comes from is to the benefit of everyone, and that’s being celebrated at the upcoming Farm-to-Fork Festival, taking place from September 19th to September 29th. Over these ten days, there will be much to explore and experience, so we figured we’d give you a short preview of what’s in store.
A Bit of Festival History
Believe it or not, the Sacramento Farm-to-Fork Festival started back in 2013, born of an idea from founder Josh Nelson (in collaboration with Visit Sacramento):
“In 2012, Josh Nelson approached Visit Sacramento with the idea that the region should shine a light on its amazing food and agriculture and share it with the rest of the country. Soon after, the Sacramento region was declared America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, and the world has been paying attention ever since.”
So it has been, attracting visitors by the boatload every year, and showing off just how amazing the Farm-to-Fork concept truly is. It’s not just about showcasing this amazing approach to agriculture, though, the Farm-to-Fork Festival provides plenty of opportunity to cut loose and have a great time, as you’ll soon see.
What’s in Store This Year?
Like the years before it, this year’s Farm-to-Fork Festival will include a number of riveting events to take part in, like the Sous Chef Challenge, Tower Bridge Dinner, and the full-on street festival where you’ll have a chance to sample the wares of local farmers, brewers, winemakers, and more. Perhaps most exciting in the calendar of events, though, are all the musicians who will be in attendance, providing live entertainment.
The list of performers is a lengthy one, spanning several days, and including acts like ZZ Ward, me&you, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Samantha Fish. While they’re gracing audiences with their musical gifts, there will also be some appearances by notable chefs like Mattson Zust and Alex Schildgen, who will be showing off those culinary talents and showing you how a true chef prepares a meal.
All the while, you’ll get to taste the sweet nectars from local representatives like Cabana Winery, Hillenbrand Farmhaus Brewery, and Bogle. It’s all set to be a fantastic way to spend a few September days, with cheer, music, and a drink in hand. Be sure to read up on the FAQ, and prepare to head to the festival event locations for a great time.
